Allen is a 6-3, 245 lb senior first baseman from Georgia. This kid is one of the better pure power hitting prospects we've seen in a while. Allen has exceptionally strong hands and good athletic looseness in his upper body. What gives Allen his power is his very short, compact swing, a swing that's much shorter than most power guys. The ball just explodes off Allen's bat when he's using wood and it's scary to think what happens when metal meets ball in Allen's hands. College coaches should be all over Allen if they aren't already. Another impressive thing about Allen's offensive game is that his short swing enables him to make consistent hard contact. He just missed a couple of balls in games that ended up going about 380 to the middle of the field. Allen's defensive future depends on what kind of work he puts into his body but as a DH he can hit for any college program in the country. Allen looked like he enjoyed playing and had confidence in himself as a hitter. Big time power prospect!
