Mateo Martinez is a 2026 SS/RHP, C, IF with a 5-0 120 lb. frame from Channelview, TX who attends Channelview. Young, square shouldered frame, has room to grow and develop moving forward. Ran a 10.16 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, takes shorter steps moving towards the ball and works with a compact arm action on throws, young footwork, shows some accuracy across the diamond with arm strength that will continue to improve, quick transfer on the charge. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of stretch in game,, tall on backside with leg lift up to belt, short arm action through the back to a three-quarters release. Repeats delivery, occasionally gets across body and creates some cut action to fastball up to 62 mph, short 11-5 shape to curveball up to 55 mph, drops release point at times but worked around the zone. Right-handed hitter, begins with a slightly open stance with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a high leg lift trigger for timing. Longer swing path through the zone but worked contact around to all parts of the field, gets the barrel out front, bat speed will continue to improve with added strength.
