KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Kaylyn Yamnitz is a 5'1. class of 2025, OF/MIF from Pevely, MO who attends Herculaneum HS. Kaylyn is a fundamentally sound, up and coming young player, who has noticeable athleticism and a sound base to build her game on. She ran an impressive 3.24 20-yad dash with a 1.08 5-yard split. Both of these times are outstanding for her age group. A primary outfielder, Kaylyn shows outstanding effort with each attempt. Her athleticism plays well. She approaches the fielding action with measured assuredness. Her glove plays well and her 54-mph throws have carry and accuracy. Kaylyn shows a fine understanding of OF defense and with continued attention to detail, will continue to improve her fundamentally sound game. Kaylyn also took a turn on the infield and her approach here plays really well. Her footwork is fluid and she positions well. She transitions with ease and her 54-mph throws have a tad more carry and are a little more accurate. At the plate, Kaylyn shows a great ability to bunt. This LHH is a slapper all the way and appears to have the correct approach to this sometimes difficult style of offense. She runs to contact and although she gets a little too quick at times, she has a concept that should pay dividends in the years to come. She showed barrel correction as her round went and made solid contact as she went. Power will never be a big part of her game and really doesn't need to be. She will be a "speed" player who looks to get on base and create havoc with her running ability. Kaylyn has a sound game right now and has, seemingly, the right positive body language and work ethic to improve her game. She has a few years to get better and with a dedicated approach to adding strength and agility, she will. Love her positive attitude and big effort!
