2021 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
John Sekich is a 2022 C/ with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Longmont, CO who attends Silver Creek. Large frame with a long and lanky build, plenty of room for added physical development. Primary catcher with a wide base and side straddle set up. Shows fast footwork, could gain more ground towards second base. Displays quick hands and a strong arm, transfer can get long at times, could have a more direct hand path on the transfer. Stands tall to throw, will improve as he stays low throughout the process. Recorded a 2.00 second pop time at 78 mph. Keeps the left knee down in his primary stance, stays down on breaking pitches and does a good job of shifting his weight to try and center pitches. Right-handed hitter with a narrow stance and high intent swing, hands stay close to the body. Short bat path with quick hands and present bat speed, shifts his weight well and drives the lower half. Looks to do damage with each swing, shows the ability to create lift. Flashed definite power potential in live at bats, produced loud impact when on time and on barrel. Named to the 2021 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase Top Prospect List.
