2006 Mid-Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase
Mikel Iraola is a 2007 RHP/OF that attends DeMatha HS and resides in Kensington, MD with a 6'3", 175 lb. build. Mikel has a tall athletic build with room to fill out. On the mound Mikel throws from an OH arm slot with a short loose arm action. He has a quick arm with good run on the ball but really needs to get more out of his body. Once he gets more out of his body he should see his velocity jump quite a bit. Mikel's off-speed pitches are a little raw at this point and need some refining. At the plate Mikel has good bat speed and good projection. Once he cleans up his swing fundamentals and shortens his swing he should be able to drive the ball more consistently. In the outfield Mikel has very good footwork with nice range. He would project well in left field or first base. MIkel is a player that will attract the attention of many small to mid-level college programs.
