2006 Mid-Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase
Chris McDermott is a 2007 LHP/1B that attends Damascus HS and resides in Boyds, MD with a 6'6", 220 lb. frame. Chris has an outstanding build and nice upside on the mound. On the mound Chris throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a short clean arm action. Chris showed a lot of pitchability at the event with good command and a nice downhill plane. His curveball could use a little tightening but his overall polish on the mound is very good. With his build you would think Chris could throw harder and once he gets his front side more active in his delivery he should see his velocity jump. At the plate Chris is a little raw but showed very good raw power potential. He has the look of a power-hitting first baseman at the next level. In the field Chris will need to stay at first base. He makes a very big target for infielders and has clean actions. Chris has some untapped potential right now and could be a solid low to mid-level college prospect.
