2024 National Indoor Showcase (Sunday-Wood River)
Marcus Nantz is a 2025 RHP/C, 1B, 3B, OF with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Robinson, IL who attends Robinson. Recorded a 7.61 second sixty yard dash time. Extra-large frame with some strength present. Primary right-handed pitcher works from an abbreviated wind-up delivery from the first base side of the rubber with a leg lift up to the belt. Hands go the chin-belly-chest breaks into a shorter slightly offline arm path. Releases from a low three-quarter arm slot. The fastball (2011 RPM) was 75-80 with life out of the hand with some short arm-side run. Locates it well north-south. The curveball (1839 RPM) was upper 60s with 11-5 shape and gradual two-plane movement. The change-up (1163 RPM) was his best pitch and falls off a table at the last second, more a splitter feel to it. Mixing the pitches well and a smooth mover down the slope. Secondary infielder with a lower release and accurate throws across. Some arm strength and can adjust slots. Also worked out in the outfield, fields it out front and accelerates through release. Longer arm action with some looseness and carry on the throws. The right-handed hitter starts from a wider slightly closed base with high hands and a high back elbow, utilizes an abrupt toe-tap trigger. Slightly uphill bat path and attempts to create leverage. Shifts the weight well and worked the whole field. Developing timing mechanicism. Exciting player with good upside. Good student.
