2022 Northern California Workout Showcase (Saturday)
Matteo Bivian is a 2026 3B/RHP, UT with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Benicia, CA who attends Benicia. Features a medium build with room to add. Ran a 7.92 60-yard dash. Primary infielder. Charged the ball hard throughout infield workouts. Still developing timing and footwork to approach. Showed the ability to catch the routine ball. Occasionally gets the glove down late. Showcased an accurate arm using a longer arm action. More arm strength should come as the frame matures. Right-handed hitter. Utilizes a square stance with a wide base setup. Moderate leg kick timing mechanism gets down on time consistently. Displayed a direct path bat through the zone. Has the ability to use the entire field well. Adding more intent to swing and continuing to develop barrel accuracy will help generate more power. Also threw as a right-handed pitcher. Utilizes a high leg lift into low effort delivery down the mound. Throws out of a high 3/4 slot with a fairly clean arm action The fastball sat 69-73 mph with the ability to throw it for strikes often. Paired the heater with a changeup in the mid-50’s. Creates some armspeed deception. Also showed a low-60’s curveball with short action. Generates solid movement when the hand gets on top. Solid pitching foundation with room to continue to develop frame and pitch mix.
