KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Lana Carlton is a 5'6, class of 2026, 1B/OF from Bentonville, AR who attends Bentonville HS. Lana is a noticeably talented and athletic younger player, who has a solid fundamental foundation and a solid grasp on her current abilities. She ran a 3.55 20-yard dash with a 1.26 5-yard split. A primary first baseman, Lana is a skilled defender. There is an ease of actions around the bag. Her footwork is solid and her glove plays. She makes a quick transition and her 54-mph throws are firm and accurate. Lana also took a turn in the outfield, and her pure athleticism shone through here. Her footwork is again quick and routine and she positions quickly and confidently. There is not hesitancy in her fielding action and her glovework is consistently sound. She has a smoother transition and her 56-mph throws are firm, hold their plane, and are highly accurate. Plus defensive abilities at two positions. At the plate, this LHH is balanced and slightly closed at the ready. She uses her back leg well and drives through to contact. Her bat path is rather flat and shows slight lift at contact. Her hands are quick and strong and she has solid gap-to-gap pop with emerging power that will unquestionably improve as she matures and adds strength. All fields concept. Solid offensive operation that projects. Lana is without question, a potential next level player. She shows actions at an early stage in her career that are advanced now, and should, with continued work and attention to detail, improve in big increments. High ceiling! Big, bright future! Certain collegiate ability!
