2022 13U/14U Summer Northeast Showcase (Wed-Thurs)
Robert Centamore is a 2026 RHP/2B, 3B, SS with a 5-8 140 lb. frame from Gillette, NJ who attends Watchung Hills Reg H. Medium, younger looking frame with plenty of room and time to physically mature. Recorded an 8.13 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary right-handed pitcher that worked exclusively from the stretch in this look. Compact delivery with lower leg lift into balance and slight lean back at the top of his balance position. Fastball worked in the 68-71 mph range for most of his outing and topped out at 72 mph from a three-quarters arm slot. Proficient strike thrower that repeats mechanics well, mixed in promising 11-5 shaped curveball with some vertical bite to it and tumbling changeup as go-to secondary offerings. Landed curveball at-will for strikes and generated plenty of swings-and-misses with it. Will continue to expand overall repertoire with added strength and velocity. Secondary infielder with developing defensive skill set with plenty of upside remaining. Works downhill into the fielding process, uses a clean funnel out in-front and displayed a quick exchange into release. Showed ability to range well laterally and change arm slots when necessary. Recorded accurate throws up to 71 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter that hits from a narrow, slightly open stance with a high, tight hand set and high back elbow. Incorporates small hanging leg lift trigger for timing, showed some compact hand speed and developing bat-to-ball skills. Lofted stroke with length to it, tends to get steep with his swing path and sometimes mistimed. Best impact was to the middle and pullside of the field when in-sync and on-time. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Fundamentally sound, young prospect with physical upside and plenty of time to refine his overall skills.
