Joseph Thompson is a 2027 OF/1B/UT with a 5-8 152 lb. frame from Davenport, IA who attends Assumption. A compact frame with a medium build and room to keep adding strength and filling out moving forward. Ran a 7.25 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder who worked out at the position during his defensive reps. He fields the ball off the front foot and moves fine to it. Shows a shorter release with uphill throws through his release. Showed developing arm strength during the round. He fields it well and uses his short arm action to work through it fluidly. He showed some fundamental glove work as well. Took his round of BP from the right side with an even base and upright stance. He had a slightly open front foot with higher-set hands and a high-back elbow. He used a hovering leg lift trigger. He had hard turns with some rotation through the swing, aiming to get to the ball out in front to do damage. He worked up the middle of the field during his round for the most part, with some swings working backside as well. He produced some line drives during the round with some leverage. He loads deep and used some strength that showed especially near the end of the round. Produced an 81 mph exit velocity during PG Tech Testing. Good student.
