Briar Klaver is a 2024 LHP/1B with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Webster City, IA who attends Webster City. Recorded a 7.83 second sixty yard dash time. Long and lanky frame with room to fill, good physical projection moving forward. Primary left-handed pitcher with drop and drive lower half mechanics, utilizes a short and stiff arm action with deep plunge. Developing arm speed, has some cut to the fastball at times when glove side. Flashed a curveball with vertical drop and slight horizontal movement, developing bite at present, tends to slow his arm down when throwing it. Also featured a changeup, did a good job of keeping his arm speed on it. Mixed speeds well and kept hitters off balance, missed bats effectively during his outing, has some deception to his look and did well with what he had. Secondary first baseman, fields out front with two hands, short arm action with segmented actions at present. Left-handed hitter with an even stance and a high hand and back elbow set to start, loads into a low and deep hand set. Utilizes a leg lift trigger, shows a pull side approach and tends to fly open at times. Made consistent ground ball contact, long swing at present, will improve as he gets stronger and develops more bat speed. Excellent student.
