2022 California Workout Showcase (Saturday)
Hayden Jordan is a 2022 SS/RHP with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Tustin, CA who attends Tustin. Lean athletic build with plenty of room to get stronger. 7.16 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, has smooth actions in both directions with good balance and soft hands, works through the ball well, can throw from multiple arm slots with good accuracy, next level defensive actions in the middle infield. Right handed hitter, hits from an upright slightly open stance with a high back elbow start, short contact oriented swing, can use his lower half better to generate bat speed, middle of the field approach. Also pitched, drop and drive mechanics with a compact arm action that hides the ball well, 3/4's slot. Fastball topped out at 80 mph with good life in the zone, threw his fastball for consistent strikes. Soft mid-60's slider with some sweeping depth, also showed a change up with some fading action. Improvement offensive will be key to his development. Good student.
