Mason Cortez is a 2025 SS/RHP, 3B with a 5-9 135 lb. frame from Danville, CA who attends De La Salle. Medium frame, long and projectable with young strength; the frame should fill in nicely as he matures. A litany of strong actions with the upside as a pitcher standing out most. Very athletic on the mound with hands starting high as they work down then back up on a fluid and high front knee lift. Sinks the back hip and drives the hill using that athleticism and matches with his loose 3/4 arm. Fastball (up to 78 MPH) worked the bottom half of the zone. Change-up was mainly straight and used sparingly as he mainly worked the fastball. Athletic in the outfield utilizing compact and quick arm for consistently accurate throws. The infield actions showed him working wide and funneling to the middle while keeping posture on throws. Flashed fluid actions and some athleticism. Stood balanced at the plate with foot lift having him work downhill to the baseball and looking to pull the ball early before more liners to the middle later. Young athlete shows good fundamentals and will be one to follow.
