Once again Tony Gwynn Stadium held a standing room only crowd of 2,725, which saw the East Team mount a fierce ninth inning come back to secure a 5-4 victory. The victory narrows the West’s series lead to 3-2.
Game MVP Tim Beckham hit a triple, drew a walk and knocked in three runs, including the game winner. The East Team also featured a number of strong pitching performances, including two scoreless innings each by Jack Armstrong and Brett DeVall.
Kyle Skipworth led the West’s offensive attack with a home run and three RBI’s. Isaac Galloway added two hits, stole a base and scored a run. West pitchers allowed only four total hits for the game. West Teamer Tim Mellville took home the Jackie Robinson Player of the Year Award.
In one of the best Home Run Derby’s to date, East teammates Destin Hood and Ethan Martin each launched five bombs. After a deadlocked tie-breaker round, the players shared the title of Champion.
