Andrew Fonte is a 2024 C/3B/OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from League City, TX who attends Clear Springs. Recorded a 7.19 second 60 yard dash time. Great frame with a lean and athletic look, well built for a 2024. Primary catcher, gains ground on the catch, easy set up, shows quick and loose actions. Has present arm strength but does not carry his momentum through the throw. Some length in the transfer, sound operation overall. Secondary third baseman with some rhythm to his actions, shows best on the glove side. Has a clean glove, moves well laterally and has some feel for the position. Showed the arm strength once again in the outfield, clean arm action and short gather, has quick feet and lower half athleticism. Right-handed hitter with a high hand and elbow set, big weight shift, could stay loaded in the back hip for longer. Long swing path, has impact potential when on time and on barrel. Tends to wrap the bat which leads to not being on time or getting the barrel head out, The intangibles are there and the swing will progress as he makes some small mechanical changes. Exciting young prospect with the strength and athleticism to play multiple positions. Great student. Named to the 2020 Lone Star Showcase Top Prospect List.
