One Day #3 Champions crowned

The third and final edition of the One Day Showdowns took place on Sunday split between LakePoint and Joe Cowan Park.


10u Champions: Buford Green



Offensively, Triston Gabrels led the way for Buford, collecting four hits including a home run with six RBI and scored three runs. Damian Brown also had a big day at the plate with four extra base hits, six RBI and four runs scored.

Ethan Murray closed out the championship game for Buford tossing two innings allowing only one run and recording all six outs via strikeout. As a team, they went 3-0 on the tournament to secure the championship.


 
10u Runner-up: The Cru 10u


 
11u Champions: East Cobb Braves



The leaders of the Braves’ offense that scored 37 runs in their four games were Samuel Crew and Blake Rodgers. Crew collected seven hits with a pair of doubles, seven RBI and had five runs scored. Rodgers added in six hits, a pair of doubles as well, six RBI and seven runs scored.

As for their pitching, they held their opponents to a mere nine runs in their 19 innings in the field. It’s hard to look past Logan Bryson on the mound who closed out their semifinal game then pitched a shutout in the championship. He struck out two batters over his five innings and earned a win and a save.

12u Champions: East Cobb Astros



What the Astros did better than any team on Sunday was dominate the base paths. They collectively stole 32 bases on the day, led by Lleyton Lackey with six. They also had six homers as a team, with Max Eichenberger, Tysen Benford, and Dylan Lesko with two a piece.

The Astros were led by their absolute dominate pitching on the day. As a team they only allowed one run over their 18 innings played. Both Christian Jackson and Dylan Lesko were particularly impressive. Jackson tossed four shutout innings and struck out seven and Lesko went five innings and struck out eight.


12u Runner-up: Georgia Bombers Hudson 12u


 
13u Champions: South Forsyth Giants Bailey



The Giants ended up winning the 13u age group with a championship game that dipped into the early hours of Monday morning on a walk-off single by Cane Berrong. Preston Gunnell led the charge for them on offense collecting six hits, five for extra bases including a home run. He also had 11 RBI and scored five runs.

On the mound, both Andrew Southern and Will Robbins each had impressive days. Southern tossed six and two thirds innings allowing one unearned run and struck out four batters, while Robbins threw seven innings allowing one run and struck out eight.


 
13u Runner-up: Tennessee Nationals


 
14u Champions: Georgia Roadrunners



Offensively the Roadrunners were led by Matthew Cassandra and Patrick Holloman. Cassandra collected five hits, two for extra bases, one RBI and scored three runs. Holloman added in four of his own, three for extra bases, three RBI and four runs scored.

As a team, the Roadrunners only allowed seven runs in their 23 innings in the field, posting a 1.52 ERA as a club. Cassandra also stood out on the mound firing five and two third innings allowing an unearned run and striking out six. Charlie Taylor also earned a win and a save on the day over six total innings on the mound.


14u Runner-up: East Cobb Astros
